Trauma-Informed Somatic Therapy

Sanctuary at Life's Thresholds

I’m Amy, a somatic therapist, holding space for people navigating life’s heavier moments - trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, major transitions, or simply the desire to reconnect with a sense of self and thrive. My work is somatic, emotionally attuned, and rooted in deep respect for your pace, your truth, and your nervous system.I walk with you as you soften, restore your balance, and reconnect with yourself. I offer both in-person and online sessions, working locally (Lichfield, Staffordshire, UK) and across different time zones to meet you wherever you are in the world.

PRESENCE

A slow, no pressure space to see if working together feels right.

trauma-informed somatic therapy

Your body remembers. Let it show you the way home.

You might not have a word for what you're experiencing,You might just know that something feels off. Maybe you're more tired than you used to be, more reactive or feeling withdrawn. Life may feel harder than it should, even if on the outside you appear to function well. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure why certain patterns keep repeating. Somatic therapy supports people navigating trauma, grief, anxiety or the lingering effects of life's big transitions. These experiences are not personal failings, but intelligent adaptations of the nervous system - ways the body learned to cope, protect or survive when things felt too much, too fast or too unsupported.Sometimes these adaptations are described through the lens of trauma. Not as a label you need to claim, but as a way of understanding how the body responds when it has had to carry more than it had the support to process. When these experiences imprint on the body, they can shape how we move through the world - how we relate, protect, withdraw, or stay alert. What can look like burnout, shutdown, sensitivity, or stuckness is often your nervous system doing its best to keep you safe.Somatic therapy offers a slow, attuned way of meeting these patterns - not by pushing through them, but by listening to what the body has learned to hold.No map. No pressure. Just a steadying presence as you learn to trust your rhythms again, restore balance and reconnect with yourself.

Working with your body, breath and rhythm

We work with sensation, breath, rhythm, and timing. We follow what’s present - and what’s ready. This work isn’t about fixing or overriding your experience. It’s about rebuilding safety from the inside out, so your system can begin to soften, reorganise, and trust again.Somatic therapy supports you in feeling more grounded, connected and embodied.

Moving at your pace

You don’t need the right words. You don’t need to know where to begin.Nothing happens without your consent. We move at the pace your nervous system can genuinely hold, offering a trauma-informed, somatic approach to emotional and nervous system regulation.

1:1 somatic therapy for adults navigating trauma, overwhelm, grief, and nervous system exhaustion.

A gentle crossing, if and when you're ready.

the arc of the journey

Beginning at the Threshold

Every journey begins at a threshold. Sometimes it's obvious. Often it’s a quiet knowing - that something isn’t working anymore. You may feel frayed, shut down, overwhelmed, or as though you're hovering just above your life, unsure how to return. The therapeutic journey begins here - not by pushing you forward, but by meeting you at the edge with steadiness and care. This is where somatic therapy can help you reconnect with your body and your nervous system.

Descending into the Body

Before we can heal, we must descend. We loosen what’s been tightly held and name what was never given language. We listen to what the body remembers but hasn’t yet had the safety to express. Through trauma-informed somatic work we build safety, explore, process, and integrate...allowing healing to emerge in its own time, in its own way.

Unfolding in Spirals

Healing doesn't move in straight lines. It unfolds in spirals. There may be moments of collapse. There may be relief. But slowly, as the nervous system is met, space begins to open. The noise softens. The body regains its own rhythm. The self that felt lost begins to speak again. Somatic therapy supports this process, helping you restore balance, presence and connection to yourself.

You begin to remember what it’s like to come home.

the path behind the practice

Before I was a therapist, I was a teacher - of foreign languages.I’ve always been drawn to communication, translation and finding meaning across thresholds. That instinct led me to somatic therapy - where the body becomes the text, and healing is often a remembering of what we already know.My own path has wound through the landscapes of complex trauma, grief, infant loss, neuro-affirming parenting, motherhood, and spiritual rupture and repair - experiences that now shape the way I listen and walk alongside others. How I work is, of course, informed by the professional trainings I have undertaken, but just as importantly, perhaps even more so, it is informed by my own lived experience, instinct and natural leaning towards getting closer to what it means to be human, to be alive in this world. I offer a space that is deeply human, where presence, compassion and attunement guide the work.I don't work through a hierarchical model that tells you what’s 'wrong' with you, and the steps you need to take to fix yourself - I don't buy into that. Rather, I am curious to understand what has inevitably shaped you, and to help you understand why you are the way you are. My intention is to walk alongside you, helping you explore your own pathway back to yourself, at the pace your nervous system and inner knowing can hold.Through trauma-informed somatic therapy, I hold the space for you to safely explore, integrate, and reconnect, weaving insight, education and grounding with genuine human connection, so the work becomes embodied, alive and real. This work honours both the nervous system and the soul. It’s not about fixing. It’s about remembering. And it’s okay if you don’t know where to begin. You’re allowed to arrive exactly as you are.

Come as you are.
